Khagraj Bhatt will contest the election from Kanchanpur, what will Deuba do ?
Dhangadhi: There is talk that CPN Maoist Center Standing Committee member Khagraj Bhatt will contest the election from Kanchanpur. It is said that Bhatt, who was defeated three times from Dadeldhura, the home district of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, is preparing to contest the election from Kanchanpur after the alliance.
According to close sources, he is preparing to contest elections from Deuba Nai Dadeldhura and Bhatt from Kanchanpur constituency number 2. However, Maoists and Congress have not made public their official views on this. According to the leaders of the Maoist Far West, Deuba said that he would bring Khagraj Bhatt to the Parliament even if he contested the election from any district in the Far West. Accordingly, it is said that Khagraj has started the homework of contesting the election from Kanchanpur-2.
However, this area belongs to Congress leader NP Saud. As he is close to Deuba, it is difficult for Bhatta to easily get a ticket from the alliance. UML's Nar Bahadur Dhami won the election from this area in the 2074 election. Dhami won by getting 33 thousand 220 votes, while Saud of Congress was defeated by getting 24 thousand 893 votes.
In the first Constituent Assembly election, Khagraj was defeated by Deuba by only 1 thousand 368 votes. At that time Deuba got 20 thousand 529 votes while Khagraj got 19 thousand 161 votes. In the election of the second Constituent Assembly, the difference in votes widened. While Deuba got 23 thousand 920 votes, Khagraj got only 12 thousand 493 votes.
Khagraj challenged him as he participated in the 2074 elections on behalf of the Left Alliance. However, they did not win. There was no improvement in voter turnout either. Khagraj's situation seemed stronger than Deuba's to evaluate the party votes at the local level. However, Deuba won by a margin of 6,929 votes.
