Bhim Rawal prepares to launch new party after expulsion from CPN-UML
Dhangadhi, December 30, 2024– Bhim Rawal, recently expelled from the CPN-UML, is taking steps to launch his own political party.
The seasoned politician, who has been a significant figure in the party for decades, is currently holding discussions with key political figures in the Far West region. On Monday, Rawal met with Karna Malla, the former chairman of the Nepali Congress in Dadeldhura, and Tara Joshi, an independent member of the Far West Province.
Malla, who had a strained relationship with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, was expelled from the party in 2079 Baisakh after a series of disagreements. Malla had been accused of forcing the Congress to register a candidate against the party’s official choice in the local elections of Dadeldhura.
Prior to his expulsion, Malla had clashed with Deuba’s faction during the 14th Congress of the Nepali Congress in 2078. Despite being expelled, Malla remained politically active, becoming the vice president of the Congress (BP) faction, a breakaway group within the party. In their recent meeting with Rawal, Malla and independent MP Joshi discussed possible future collaborations. Malla confirmed that the discussions were in the early stages and focused on exploring a new political direction.
"We are looking at moving forward in a new way," Malla said, suggesting that the talks could lay the foundation for a new political initiative. Rawal's potential move to form a new party comes after his expulsion from CPN-UML, a decision that has sparked widespread debate.
The political landscape in Sudurpaschim Province, where Rawal has a significant following, could see further shifts as Rawal aligns himself with like-minded political figures such as Malla and Joshi. The coming weeks are likely to reveal more about Rawal’s plans to chart a new path in Nepali politics.
