Trilochan Bhatta pledges to advance Khutiya-Dipayal fast track and key development projects in Far-west
Doti: Former Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province and House of Representatives candidate from Doti, Trilochan Bhatta, has pledged to expedite the construction of a fast track connecting Khutiya in Kailali via Dipayal in Doti to the Orai Bhanjyang border with China in Bajhang if elected.
In his public election commitment, Bhatta stated that he would take the initiative as a people's representative to implement the project under the federal government. He recalled that during his tenure as Chief Minister, the provincial cabinet had approved developing this road as a tri-country route linking the borders of India and China.
“Earlier, the project began as the Khutiya-Dipayal fast track. During my tenure, the federal government agreed to extend it to the Orai border crossing with China via Khutiya-Dipayal. We initiated and completed the work of opening the track,” Bhatta said. He added that he would raise the issue in the House of Representatives to accelerate construction, noting that although parts of the Khutiya-Dipayal-Urai Bhanjyang road have been blacktopped, progress remains slow.
Bhatta’s pledge also includes blacktopping the Sahajpur-Bogtan-Dipayal road, which passes through numerous rural areas but has experienced delayed construction. He noted that approximately 50 kilometers have already been paved by the federal government, and that the Doti section had been designated as a provincial pride project during his tenure.
“This road reached KI Singh under contracts during my tenure, but subsequent provincial governments did not continue it. I plan to complete this work,” he stated. His election commitment further includes operating a 50-bed hospital in Dipayal, establishing an engineering campus under Tribhuvan University in Doti, constructing the KI Singh-Shikhar-Jorayal railway, developing the Sahajpur-Jorayal-Mudbhara expressway, and upgrading the Byal-Allevan-Ghat Lawne-Kolakhan-Satfari road.
Bhatta also pledged to push for the completion of the Paschim Seti and SR Six hydroelectric projects and to establish the Khaptad Area Development Fund to promote tourism in the Khaptad region.
He highlighted that during his tenure as Chief Minister, about 130 kilometers of roads were blacktopped in Doti, most school buildings were constructed, 500 hospital buildings were built, and services from district to provincial hospitals were upgraded. He expressed confidence that voters would recognize the difference between past accomplishments and current progress.
“When I served as Chief Minister for five years, I worked sincerely for the development of the entire Far West, including Doti. Citizens can compare the infrastructure, lawmaking, and development work then and now. I am confident the people will elect me based on the work I accomplished,” Bhatta said. He did not contest the 2079 elections.
