Kanchanpur: In the serene village of Krishnapur, nestled within the heart of Kanchanpur, a dramatic and unfortunate incident unfolded as a herd of elephants wreaked havoc upon the homes of unsuspecting locals. The tranquil Chapartala village, situated in the northern reaches of the district, fell victim to the relentless rampage of these wild giants.

The unsettling events transpired late on a fateful Wednesday night, when a marauding herd of elephants laid siege to Chapartala, specifically targeting three homes within Krishnapur Municipality-4. With swift and relentless force, these elephants infiltrated the village, causing extensive damage to both residences and agricultural crops. The affected households, those of Shyanu Chaudhary, Gopal Chaudhary, and Jayaraj Chaudhary, bore the brunt of this unexpected catastrophe. The families residing within these now-devastated homes find themselves grappling with profound loss and despair.

Tragically, the destruction extended beyond the homes, as approximately four and a half bigha of paddy crops, belonging to 15 village residents, met a similar fate, leaving a trail of agricultural ruin in its wake.

In response to this dire situation, a team consisting of State Assembly Member Om Vikram Bhat (Salal), Mayor of Krishnapur Municipality Hemraj Ojha, Deputy Mayor Dropathi Rana, and Ward Chairman Dharam Singh, swiftly mobilized for on-site assessments of the affected areas. Their presence brought some solace to the stricken community, offering a glimmer of hope during these trying times.

Furthermore, the municipality extended its support by providing tarps and essential sustenance to the families affected by this unfortunate incident. In the face of adversity, the community of Krishnapur comes together to navigate the challenging road to recovery.
