Dhangadhi: In the Far-West, fewer votes have been cast this year in comparison to the previous elections. Although the total number of voters was higher than in the previous elections, only 63% of the votes were cast in Far-West.

Many analysts opine the parties conduct door-to-door campaigns only to garner votes before the elections but fail to understand and cater to the problems faced by common people after being elected.

In the general election held five years ago in Sudurpaschim Province, 65% of votes were cast.

But political analyst Dr. Kedarchandra Bhatta said that voters did not take the election positively because only 63 % of the votes were cast in the state-wide elections this year.

"The people did not show enthusiasm for the elections, the faith of the common people has been deteriorating in politics and political parties, that could be the reason why most voters did not turn up," he said.

As the political parties are not able to act according to the promises made in the previous elections, the trust of the voters towards the parties seems to be decreasing. It is estimated that the voter's enthusiasm towards the parties is decreasing due to the lower percentage of votes that have been cast in comparison to the previous elections. Professor of Political Science Surendra Chand said that the party's principles, policies, and ideas are not followed by the parties, so voters are indifferent to voting.

"The parties could not work according to the announcements made to the people, they could not explain clearly about the party's policy and the work to be done," he said, "The anguish has increased among the people because the parties do not understand what the people want, hence the enthusiasm towards elections has decreased."

It is estimated that the low percentage of votes fell because the parties go to the people only during elections, and are oblivious to the problems of the people at other times. Analysts argue that the voting percentage should have had a steady increase in every election after 2064 had the political parties been more empathetic, but the parties were busy in political lynching instead of spending time to solve the people's problems.

Analyst Bhatta said, "In 2074 after the constitution was promulgated the public was determined and excited which led to a majority of nearly two-thirds in the Parliament. After the majority of nearly two-thirds could not function appropriately, the people were upset with the parties, but the number of votes that have been cast cannot be underestimated."

The voters of the Far-West, who have voted and tested all parties since 2064, have been unwilling to vote this time although the election was held at a decent time. Due to the drop in the number of votes that were cast, it can be anticipated that the dislike towards parties and their leaders is increasing significantly.
