Brahmin community protests in Kanchanpur

Dhangadhi: The leaders of the Brahmin community have protested after the police arrested the priest Sahdev Bhatta who refused to offer prayers to a fasting woman of the Dalit community at the Bhujela Ghat of the Mahakali river located in Bhimdatta Municipality 11 of Kanchanpur. They gathered at Madanchowk in Mahendranagar on Tuesday and staged a silent protest.

Leaders of the Brahmin community along with Acharya Ghanshyam author participated in the protest. They said that they were protesting against the discrimination against Brahmins by the government and non-government bodies.

He is sitting in a silent protest at Madan Chowk. Sanju Nepali of Bhimdatta Municipality 5 and others filed a complaint against Pujari Bhatt at the district police office on Sunday, alleging that they were discriminated against in a public place after knowing their surname and refusing to pray at Bhujela Ghat on the day of Rishi Panchami.

Pujari Bhatta was arrested after a complaint was registered at the police office. The district court has extended the deadline and the investigation has been continued. Dalit community leaders along with the victim went to the police office to register a complaint.
