Lockdown is a state of isolation or restricted access instituted as a security measure. It is a lock in the sense that nobody is allowed to come out of their homes except in emergency. The outbreak of Corona Virus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has closed the whole world for more than month.

COVID-19, an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome, was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan of China. Initially, it was limited to China and later, it escalated globally in the world. Sprightly causing threat to mankind and taking lives of millions of people. World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a global pandemic; and suggested scheme to sway it. In order to control this pervasive, and increase social distancing, various countries of the world stepped out, executed lockdown and so as Nepal did. Nepalese government announced nationwide lockdown from March 24.

Everything has its both positive and negative impact on others; lockdown can’t be exceptional. It has greatly influenced in the education sector. Educational institutes are closed completely after lockdown. SEE of 2076 was postponed which gave heartbreak and an unexpected shock to the students. Other exams, which were scheduled previously also, got postponed. Nowadays, students are locked up inside their homes with their family.

Most of them are spending important and fabulous time with their parents. Some students have taken this time as an opportunity to learn things related to their daily life like cooking, gardening, washing and so other household chores. It helps in uplifting the life-long quality of students. Likewise, it is useful for every student to fulfill and develop their hobbies inside the home in the spare time.

Students from well-facilitate family have their own cell phones and computers that makes them busy on playing online and video games. Similarly, some students are under the pressure of their exams and they are doing more preparation for them in addition to their syllabus. For this, internet is boon for everyone. Others are joining online classes and sometimes they become both the teachers and students with the help of web.

Nepal being an undeveloped country, internet is not accessible in every part. Students of remote area are out of its service, they are becoming demotivated from the recent trend of conducting virtual classes. Hence it is going to be full stop in their studying habit. Even the daily routine of most of the students has almost changed. Spending whole day on social media like facebook, instagram, tiktok; playing games; watching television has made them vary lazy and there is no any fruitful result of it.

They are reporting that they are gradually forgetting the learning agendas and syllabus as they are completely involving in entertainment and passing time aimlessly. It was due to uncertainity for exams.

In a nutshell, lockdown has somehow made all the students realize how the birds in the case and animals in the zoo feel like. Everything has its pros and cons. It will be better if we focus on its merits and utilize this time, fully in a right manner.
