Modern health post building constructed in Bhageshwor, Dadeldhura
Dadeldhura: A modern health post building has been constructed in Bagarkot, the temporary headquarters of Bhageshwor Rural Municipality, located about 14 kilometers west of Bagbazar, the headquarters of Dadeldhura.
Health workers and service recipients in Bhageshwor Rural Municipality expect that the new building, constructed at a cost of more than Rs. 70 million, will significantly improve service delivery. The previous health post building had frequent leakage problems.
According to Health Branch Officer Man Bahadur Sahu, service delivery had been affected due to a lack of sufficient rooms. The newly constructed two-story building includes nine rooms on the ground floor and two residential rooms for health workers providing 24-hour services on the upper floor. Additionally, a toilet for patients and a dumping site for waste management have been built near the lower floor.
Sahu stated that once services begin from the new facility, patients will have access to preventive, promotional, and curative services around the clock in a clean and spacious environment with separate rooms for various services. The health post serves an average of 3,000 patients annually. “We are trying to provide quality services with limited resources,” Sahu said, adding that the rural municipality allocates up to Rs. 3.8 million annually for the health branch, with additional funds available for organizing health camps.
He further mentioned that 11 people in Bhageshwor Rural Municipality benefited from the government’s health treatment support last year. These beneficiaries receive Rs. 5,000 monthly assistance provided to chronic patients, including those with cancer, kidney transplants, and dialysis requirements. The rural municipality also organized an eye camp and a surgical health camp last year.
Bhageshwor Rural Municipality Chairman Hemraj Chataut informed that the modern health post building was constructed at a cost of Rs. 71.762 million, including VAT, with financial support from the German Development Bank (KfW). He stated that the building was constructed using German technology.
Chataut added that the new facility aims to improve maternal and child health services in rural areas. He also shared that construction of a 10-bed hospital is underway in Rupal, located in Bhageshwor Rural Municipality-2, near the Indian border along the Kali River. Although the road to Bagarkot is blacktopped, the section leading to Rupal remains a narrow rural dirt road. It takes approximately five hours to travel from Rupal to the district headquarters.
