With the onset of the festival season, Dhangadhi is experiencing a significant influx of people returning home, particularly from India, where many residents of the Far Western region find employment.

As families prepare to celebrate Dashain and Tihar, the Nepalese border has seen heightened security measures. Authorities have established checkpoints at five locations along the border, staffed by personnel from the Nepal Police, Armed Police, and Traffic Police, positioned approximately 500 meters from the customs office. This increased vigilance aims to ensure safety and facilitate the smooth flow of traffic.

According to the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office, two teams from the Nepal Police will conduct thorough checks in the border area. Dal Bahadur Pandey, Chief of the Armed Police Force No. 34, emphasized the importance of vigilance to prevent unnecessary hardships for returning citizens.

The Armed Police have prioritized maintaining border security, preventing illegal activities, and controlling revenue leakage. Joint inspections by the Armed Police, Customs Office, Nepal Police, and the Indian Border Security Force (SSB) are being carried out in the vicinity of the Trinagar border crossing.

Recent coordination meetings between security personnel from both nations aim to enhance cooperation and ease movement during this busy time.
