ASI shoots himself in Achham, Undergoing treatment

Dhangadhi: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police in Achham district has reportedly shot himself.

Kisan Bahadur Chand, 45, who was serving as the in-charge of Bhairavsthan Police Station in Turmakhad Rural Municipality-3, sustained injuries after shooting himself in the upper left chest at around 9 p.m. on Thursday. The incident also resulted in injuries to his chest and groin.

ASI Chand is currently undergoing treatment at Kohalpur Medical College, according to Achham Police Chief DSP Ishwari Prasad Bhandari. Authorities have stated that his condition is stable.

To investigate the incident, a five-member committee has been formed under the leadership of Harsh Bahadur Chand, Chief Police Inspector of the Area Police Office Kamalbazar. However, the motive behind the self-inflicted shooting remains unclear.

Police officials continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
