Woman Jailed in Polygamy Case in Achham: District Court Reports
Achham: The District Court of Achham has reported that a woman is currently in jail on charges of polygamy.
This update was shared during a press conference that detailed the status of cases registered in the court for the financial year 2080/81. Shankar Prasad Adhikari, Srestedar of District Court Achham, noted that the case resolution status this year is similar to the previous year.
A total of 101 cases, both civil and criminal, have been registered in the district this year. Out of these, 54 cases have been nearly finalized, while 47 cases have been deferred to the next financial year.
District Judge Prakash Dhungana indicated that some of the pending cases are expected to be resolved by Ashar 31. Compared to other districts, Achham has relatively few cases, and while some are prolonged, the majority are decided within the target timeframe. Last year, 180 cases were registered, and 101 cases have been decided so far.
Currently, 51 cases remain pending, including four from the previous year and 47 from this year. In addition to the woman jailed for polygamy, the court reported that two minors have been sent to a correctional home, and one minor has been returned to their parents. A case of contempt of court has also been registered this year.
