Budhitola in Kailali Awaits Bulldozer as Vyanguttepani Landslide Cleared
Dhangadhi: Efforts to clear the blocked Bhimdatta highway in Kailali's Godavari Municipality Ward No. 4 have been delayed due to the unavailability of a bulldozer. Kailali's Chief District Officer, Yuvraj Katel, reported that the required bulldozer has not yet reached the site of the road collapse. While the Vyanguttepani landslide along the Bhimdatta highway has been successfully cleared using bulldozers, reaching the area where the road has caved in is proving challenging. The highway, a critical route connecting the Far West's seven hilly districts to the Tarai region, remains impassable.
The road became inaccessible on Monday night following a landslide in Godavari Municipality Ward No. 4. Subsequent deterioration in road conditions has made access difficult, prompting the technical team from the Mahendranagar Road Division Office to initiate response efforts. Road Division Office technicians are confident in their ability to reopen the road once the necessary conditions are met. However, as of Tuesday, the State Traffic Police Office confirmed that the road remains closed due to ongoing landslides and debris clearance. In areas where trees have obstructed the route, barriers have been installed.
The road serves as a crucial passage for vehicles traveling from hilly districts such as Dadeldhura, Achham, Doti, Bajura, Baitadi, Bajhang, and Darchula to the Terai region. Unfortunately, hundreds of passengers have been left stranded as transportation between hill and Terai districts, specifically Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Kathmandu, has been disrupted due to the road closure.
