Joint patrolling in Nepal-India border area at Baitadi
Baitadi: Joint patrolling has been started in Nepal and India border area. Security personnel from Nepal and India have started joint patrolling in Baitadi, tightening election security. According to the District Security Committee, more than 2,500 security personnel have been mobilized in the district.
The armed police have increased patrolling in Pancheshwar and Shivnath Rural Municipality and Mahakali Bank of Dasharatchand Municipality in the district. The Armed Police Force, Nepal No. 51 Gulm Baitadi, is conducting regular patrolling targeting the province and House of Representatives elections to be held on November 20 (Mangshir 4).
Regular patrolling is being done from all the three BOPs in Baitadi. It is said that a joint patrol is also being conducted in coordination with the Indian side. The checkpoints including Jhulaghat of Baitadi will remain closed after 12 midnight on 1st November. Jhulaghat in Baitadi and the ghats in Pancheshwar Rural Municipality and Shivnath Rural Municipality where Nepal-India border crossing will also remain closed, the district administration office said.
In order to conduct the elections in a free, dignified and fear-free environment, the borders have been sealed and necessary vigilance has been adopted.
