Corruption case against Katwal the then registrar of High Court Dipayal
Dhangadhi: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse Of Authority has filed a corruption case against Ran Bahadur Katwal, the then Registrar of the High Court Dipayal.
On Thursday, the special court held that Katwal had irregularly spent the allocated budget in the financial year 078/79 BS and paid his wife, who was working elsewhere as a permanent teacher, as a computer operator of the High Court Dipayal, paid fake bills of various titles and paid Rs. 4,98,995 irregularly. A charge sheet has been filed in Kathmandu.
Due to the Supreme Court's virtual monitoring and inspection, Katwal admitted that the hotel expenses were incurred in Dipayal and took payment for the bill, in some cases, he accepted the payment from the storekeeper, showed fake purchases of the expenses that were not reconciled with the businessmen, paid the bill saying that he had repaired an unused vehicle, and paid a visit. Shyam Prasad Bhandari, the spokesperson of the Commission, said that the work including receiving payment for the work was done.
According to Section 17 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, the Registrar Katwal has been requested to pay Rs. 4 lakh 98 thousand 995 by imposing a prison sentence and a fine.
