Dhangadhi: Services of a health post in Baitadi have been stopped. The OPD and 24-hour maternity services of Bhatana Health Chowki and Jogepani Maternity Home of Ward No. 4 in Purarchaudi Municipality of the district have been closed.

According to locals, these services have been closed for about four months due to lack of staff and poor management. Locals also alleged that the services were affected due to political bias. They say that the services were stopped because of the president of that ward, Dil Bahadur Dhanuk, and the staff working at the health post.

After the services were stopped, they have also demanded for the resumption of the services saying that the patients are having problems. However, instead of resuming the services, the employees issued a statement threatening the local youth not to post anything regarding the situation on social media and not to meditate on the matter. Local youth Pramod KC said threatening language was used in the statement issued by 9 employees working in that organization.

On the other hand, Binod Kunwar, health branch coordinator of Purarchaundi municipality, said that the land on which the office building is located is not in the legal system and the problem has arisen because there are 3/4 health institutions in the same ward. He claims that the service was affected after an employee working at the Bhatana health post moved to another place. He says that the number of services for patients in that health post is also low.
