'Helping in times of distress should be the spirit within you'

Dhangadhi: Dinesh FF's program director Padma Raj Joshi has talked to Dhangadhi businessman Surendra Rathi. Here is an edited excerpt from the program Prabhat Bimarsh.How are you doing business as Corona is slowly recovering from the epidemic?

The Corona epidemic has certainly had a devastating effect on the entire business world. There is no doubt about it. Business expenses were not deducted, there was no income. This must have been an embarrassing situation. Again, for the business, Corona has come in the face of seasonal time, but the private sector has power. Because the private sector, no matter how embarrassing it is, continues to improve and cope with it. How long have you been in the business?

How did you enter I did SLC from Dhangadhi in 2059 BS. He graduated from Calcutta to CCCS. After becoming proficient, his father had an accident and he had to rest at home for some time. That's how I got into the business when he had to rest at home. Maybe if that hadn't happened, I would have entered the business in a year or two. That is, they would do something in CCCS or something would happen in the third. But at the same time, I came and took over the business. I have been in business for 23 years and I have been doing it myself for 18 years. Looking at the situation now and in the past, it is very different. The previous market of Dhangadhi was not so developed, but now it is developing, many markets have expanded. I learned a lot in the meantime and followed what I learned. So far, I am satisfied with the situation.

What is the importance of formal education for doing business?

Formal education makes a big difference. Business is more than just buying and selling. Formal education makes a businessman broad-minded. Makes you think honestly. Formal education also teaches how to move a business forward in this way. Here in the Far West, I have seen buying and selling being understood only as a business, which formal education can improve. Nowadays it is very important to know about accounting and taxes. There is a position to put in the driving seat. He is doing business by keeping what. Or how much tax is being paid? Otherwise, the business may have increased, but the profit may not have increased. For all these reasons, reading is very important.

After becoming an entrepreneur, have you ever faced a difficult situation during such ups and downs?

There are ups and downs in life. Be it business or every other life must suffer. But then again, the situation has taken some time to learn. You touch different areas. If you succeed in everything you do, you will not succeed. It may not be successful in any situation. But I say it should be taken as a learning rather than a mistake. I was a little embarrassed during the conflict. Even if it is a hardware business, if the construction work is not done, it will be embarrassing. At that time, we had to get permission from the administration to match the pipes. We had to stop selling electric wires at that time. After that, it was slowly getting better.
