Ramaroshan to host ‘Sky Running 2026’ for the first time to boost adventure tourism

Dhangadhi: With the objective of adding a new dimension to Nepal’s adventure sports tourism, “Ramaroshan Sky Running 2026” is set to be organized for the first time in Ramaroshan, a scenic tourist destination in the Far West.

The Nepal Adventure Running Federation is organizing the competition with the aim of promoting natural beauty, high hilly terrain and adventure sports at the international level. Prizes have been arranged for participants finishing from first to tenth place in the competition, which will be held within the month of Jestha. The winner will receive a cash prize of one lakh rupees.

According to Bavuraja Shrestha, central member of the Nepal Adventure Running Federation, the 26-kilometer race will begin from Rame in Ramaroshan, pass through Chakhako Danda to Kinimini Maidan, and return to Rame.

Organizers state that the challenging mountainous route, natural scenery and rugged geography will make the race unique. The competition aims to develop local athletes as well as promote tourism in Ramaroshan.

Federation Central President Ekendra Kunwar expressed confidence that the event will help establish Nepal’s identity in the international arena. Central Secretary and competition coordinator Nirupam Dhwaj Kakri informed that around 100 national and international runners from various countries, including Nepal, are expected to participate.

In addition, a five-kilometer race for youth under the age of 20 will also be organized, focusing on identifying local talent and producing future athletes. The long-term goal is to promote sports tourism through adventure competitions.

According to the organizers, the event is expected to contribute significantly to tourism development in the Far West by linking natural heritage and mountainous geography with sports.
