"We are with Madhav Nepal, the majority MP from the Far-West."
Dhangadhi: Since the distance between KP Sharma Oli and Madhav Kumar Nepal has widened, most of the MPs from the Far-West have been supporting Madhav Nepal. Recently, when the UCPN (M) -led state government received a vote of confidence, 17 members of the UML were in favor of the Madhav Nepal group and seven were in favor of Oli.
Only state MPs Pathan Singh Bohara, Liladhar Bhatt, Gelbusing Bohara, Ratan Thapa, Maya Tama Bohara, Nepalu Chaudhary, and Baldev Regmi, who are also former ministers, were open to Oli, while the remaining 17 were in the Madhav group.
The 17 state parliamentarians in the Madhav group had repeatedly expanded the cabinet against the decision of the standing committee and the state committee of KP Sharma Oli's party. As the Madhav group has registered a new party, the CPN-UML (Socialist), MPs from the Far-West are also discussing whether to join the new party or stay in the old party led by KP Sharma Oli.
Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Purna Joshi and former Forest Minister Maya Bhatt have been included in the central committee of the UML. Minister Joshi said that as in the past, most of the state MPs are still in favor of Madhav Nepal. "Right now, we have only two state MPs in the central committee," she said, "but the majority in the Far-West is with state MP Madhav Nepal."
One or two out of 17 people may be upside down. The state parliament doesn't need to be in all the central committees only. You may be given different responsibilities. Bhim Rawal's influence is strong in the UML Far-West. Rawal Sher Bahadur Deuba, who has been supporting Madhav Kumar Nepal since the past, seems to be neutral since he was appointed as the Prime Minister.
There is also talk that he left Nepal. Rawal also did not support the registration of the new party of the Nepal group, the CPN-UML (Socialist). It is being assessed that Madhav Nepal has lost along with the members of the state assembly of the far west due to the departure of Vice President Rawal.
But most of the state parliamentarians are intent on joining the new party even if Rawal does not support Nepal. Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development near Rawal, Dirgha Bahadur Sodari, has also indicated that he will support Nepal.
Sodari, who was seen with Nepal for some time during the party registration, told Dinesh Khabar, "Many people may have guessed where I am." But should we choose a new party or stay at the old one? There is a 21-day leave facility. You will reach the conclusion soon. '
