Ministry of Health and Population appeals to close schools to curb Coronavirus

Dhangadhi: The Ministry of Health and Population has appealed to close schools and colleges to curb the spread of Coronavirus on Friday.

The Ministry of Home Affairs appealed to 14 districts including Kailali claiming it to be one of the most affected districts. After the appeal, the school administrators are confused about whether to open the school or not and the students are confused about whether to go to school or not.

School administrators have said that they are in a dilemma in regard to the operation of schools currently. Vice-president of Pabson Kailali, Mr Topendra Shah said that no directive has been given by the local level administration in relation to the closing of schools. Therefore, the school will be open this Friday, he said.

Chief District Officer of Kailali, Khagendra Prasad Rijal, said, “we are coordinating, the local level has the authority to decide upon the operation of the schools. The Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan is still deciding whether to allow the school to operate or not.

Deputy mayor of the Sub-Metropolitan Sushila Mishra Bhatta said they would discuss current situation of the pandemic and decide upon the operation of the schools.

The Ministry of Health on Thursday reported that Kailali, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Kaski, Rupandehi, Chitwan, Banke, Parsa, Bhaktapur, Morang, Dang, Surkhet, Bara and Baglung as the most affected districts and appealed them to close the schools at the moment.
