Football tournament offering Rs 5 lakh prize to kick off in Punarbas
Punarbas: A major football tournament is set to begin in Punarbas, the southern region of Kanchanpur, starting tomorrow. Organized by the New Bhanu Youth Club in Punarbas Municipality-5, the "First Bhanu Gold Cup 2081" is the largest football tournament in the district.
The tournament, scheduled to take place at Bhanu Sports Ground, will feature 12 teams from within Kanchanpur and neighboring Kailali district. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Club Secretary Jai Singh Thakuri stated that the event aims to nurture exceptional football talent, inspire youth participation in sports, and help curb drug abuse.
The winner of the tournament will receive Rs 5 lakh, along with medals and a certificate, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 2.5 lakh, medals, and a certificate. Additional prizes include Rs 10,000 each for the best goalkeeper and best defender, Rs 1,500 for the man of the match in each game, Rs 10,000 for the highest scorer, and Rs 15,000 for the best player of the tournament.
Club President Padam Thapa expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly contribute to the advancement of sports in the region, fostering a culture of athletic excellence and community engagement.
