Devkota memorial poetry festival celebrated in Achham
Achham: In honor of the birth anniversary of the revered poet Lakshmi Prasad Devkota, the Devkota Memorial Poetry Festival was held today in Dhakari Rural Municipality Ward No. 8, the ancestral home of the Devkota family in Achham.
The event, organized by Devkota Bandhu Samaj, featured a series of literary and cultural programs, including Deuda and Deusibhailo performances. Navraj Devkota, president of the society, stated that the festival aimed to connect Devkota descendants scattered across Nepal with their ancestral heritage.
As Devkota’s legacy fades over time, Dhakari Rural Municipality President Prakash Saud announced plans to establish a memorial to honor the legacy of Mahakavi Devkota, whose ancestors migrated from Dhakari.
The festival featured poetry readings by poets Pehal Asim, Kamalraj KC, Manoj Vivash, and Netraprasad Upadhyay, who paid tribute to Lakshmi Prasad Devkota through their verses. Ghazalists Jeevan Sarovar, Laxman Sangam, Khem Bagar, and Janak Adhikari also recited ghazals, while Deuda singer Rajaram Bhat remembered the great poet through traditional Deuda songs.
