Contraband goods worth over Rs 167,000 recovered in Kailali and Kanchanpur
Dhangadhi: Goods suspected to be illegally smuggled into India have been recovered from Kailali and Kanchanpur districts.
In Kailali, items valued at Rs 127,670 were seized from Tikapur Municipality-9, Jhunga’s internal road section, and Kailari Municipality-5, Manikapur. The recovered goods included almonds, Sutpis, and Sidra fish. The contraband was taken under control by a patrol team from the District Police Office's Kailali Subordinate Office after being found abandoned.
Similarly, in Kanchanpur, items worth Rs 39,880 were recovered from Belauri Municipality-1, Fataiya, and Beldandi Municipality-5, Jhilmila, Haldarchowk. The seized goods included beverages, crisps, biscuits, chocolates, soap, tobacco, and fish. The contraband was confiscated by a patrol team from the District Police Office's Kanchanpur Subordinate Office, also found abandoned in the area.
Both operations were conducted by respective District Police Offices to curb smuggling activities in the region.
