Dhangadhi to Study Feasibility of Multi-Storey Parking to Address Vehicle Congestion
Dhangadhi, Sudurpaschim Province, is moving forward with plans to construct a multi-storey parking lot in Kailali as part of a broader initiative to transform the city into a business hub. In response to growing parking challenges,
the Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city has included a feasibility study for this type of parking structure in its policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year, emphasizing a public-private partnership approach.
Previously, the sub-metropolitan city proposed a feasibility study and detailed project report (DPR) for multi-car parking on Malpot Road in the Madhya Bazar area of Dhangadhi. The proposal was submitted to the City Development Fund to conduct the necessary studies and prepare a DPR for utilizing the land of the staff meeting center on Malpot Road.
The decision to propose this study was made by the city executive, highlighting the acute parking issues in Dhangadhi. The area around Malpot Road, which houses Seti Provincial Hospital, the Ministry of Social Development, and various government offices, has been identified as particularly problematic for vehicle parking.
The City Development Fund has expressed its willingness to invest in the project. Additionally, the Dhangadhi sub-metropolis had previously suggested a feasibility study and DPR preparation for operating electric buses using the Phulwari bus park as a central hub. Following this study, the sub-metropolis plans to operate an electric bus service from Hulaki Road and the 6-lane road to Attaria, further modernizing the city's transport infrastructure.
