Rising Incidents of Fires Contribute to Worsening Air Quality in the Far West
Dhangadhi: As the summer season intensifies, incidents of fires have surged in the Far West region.
The Forest and Land Conservation Department reports that over the past week, six fire incidents have occurred in Achham, with additional incidents in Baitadi and Bajura. Furthermore, fires have been reported in three locations in Dadeldhura, fourteen in Doti, nine in Kailali, and six in Kanchanpur.
Tara Dutt Bhatta, spokesperson for the Environment Department, expressed concern over the escalating air pollution resulting from these widespread fires. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), the air quality in Mahendranagar has now reached hazardous levels. With an AQI score of 117.74, the air quality exceeds the threshold of 101, indicating significant harm to health.
