Dhangadhi: Amidst escalating tensions, Kanchanpur police have apprehended journalist Aishwarya Kunwar, shortly after the earlier arrest of journalist Pushkar Bhatt. Bhatt was taken into custody on Saturday morning, and Kunwar's detention followed later in the afternoon.
Madhav Dhami, President of the Journalist Association of Kanchanpur, confirmed Kunwar's arrest, stating that she was detained by the police on Saturday afternoon. According to police sources, Kunwar's arrest is linked to a case involving electronic transactions, although specific details remain undisclosed.
The arrest of Bhatt earlier in the day took place in Gaddachouki, Bhimdatta Municipality ward number 10, yet the identity of the complainant behind the case remains undisclosed by the authorities.
Aged 42 and hailing from Bhimdatta Municipality Ward No. 4, Bhatt was employed as a market manager at Gayatri Tours and Travels. Both Kunwar and Bhatt have been vocal in levying accusations against Binukumari Shahi, a police inspector stationed at the District Police Office in Kanchanpur, through various media outlets and social media platforms.
