Waterfowl Census Initiates in Shuklaphanta National Wildlife Refuge, Kanchanpur
Kanchanpur: The Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur has embarked on a comprehensive waterfowl census.
Led by the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, collaborative efforts from Shuklaphanta National Park, National Nature Conservation Fund, Nepal Bird Conservation Association, Himalayan Nature Guide, Shuklaphanta Nature Guide Association, and other organizations have initiated the waterfowl count, commencing on Saturday.
Ornithologist Hirulal Dangoura, representing the Nepal Bird Conservation Association, shared insights into the census methodology, revealing that the survey will encompass wetlands, lakes, rivers, and other water bodies both within and outside the Shuklaphanta National Park. The counting process will be facilitated through the utilization of specialized tools, including 'Vinacular telescopes' and 'GPS' cameras, ensuring accuracy in documenting the waterfowl population.
