Tragic Accident Claims Life of Darchula Woman Hit by Truck
Darchula: In a heartbreaking incident, a 55-year-old woman from Darchula, identified as Shantidevi of Duhun Rural Municipality-4, lost her life after being struck by a truck while en route to Kathmandu to visit her son.
The unfortunate event transpired on Thursday morning when Shantidevi, aboard Mahakali Transport's bus with registration number 02-001 kh 1255, was hit by a truck bearing the license plate 03-001 kh 1866 from Bagmati province on Friday morning. The incident occurred when the bus made a stop in Shivpur Municipality-5 of Kapilvastu, and Shantidevi disembarked. Tragically, she was hit by a truck approaching from the opposite direction.
Gita Prasad Chaudhary, Police Inspector of Ward Police Office, Chandrauta Kapilvastu, reported that the critically injured Shantidevi was promptly transported to Chourah Hospital Butwal for medical attention. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment. The deceased woman's son resides in Kathmandu.
In response to the incident, law enforcement authorities have taken swift action, apprehending both the truck and its driver involved in the tragic accident. The local community mourns the loss of Shantidevi, highlighting the need for continued efforts to enhance road safety and prevent such distressing incidents in the future.
