Chairman Dahal acuses central government of discriminatory treatment towards Far West

Dadeldhura: Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has accused the central government of showing discriminatory behavior towards the Far Western region, despite its significant potential for development and prosperity.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Center Nepal in Dadeldhura on Sunday, Chairman Dahal claimed that his party has consistently prioritized the Far West, especially during periods when it led the government. “Despite its potential for development and prosperity, the central government continues to exhibit discriminatory behavior towards the Far West. We have tried to strike a balance,” Dahal said. He stressed the need for policies favorable to education, health, agriculture, herbal medicine, and tourism to curb outmigration from Dadeldhura and other hilly districts.

Chairman Dahal also discussed the awareness campaign being conducted by the Maoist Center across two key geographical regions of the country. He said the first phase, focused on the Terai and the postal highway, was completed from Kachankawal in Jhapa to Mahakali, and that the second phase, targeting the Mid-Hill Highway, has been launched from Baitadi and will conclude in Solukhumbu.

Criticizing the current government, Dahal said it is moving in the wrong direction by punishing those who do good and rewarding those who do wrong. “We are concerned that the government is not on the right path and is trying to protect its own people at all costs. This is not a good sign,” he said.
He also addressed speculation about a political alliance between the Nepali Congress and the Maoists, stating that such a power equation is merely a rumor and reaffirmed that no leftist unity will materialize before the 2084 elections.
Senior party leaders including Vice President Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Agni Prasad Sapkota, Pampha Bhusal, General Secretary Dev Gurung, and Sudurpaschim Province In-charge Giriraj Mani Pokharel were also present at the event.
