No budget allocated for the construction of Phapla International Cricket Ground
Dhangadhi: The Far Western Government has allocated Rs 50 million for the construction of Phapla International Cricket Ground in 2075/076 BS. The then Minister for Economic Affairs of the state, Jhapat Bahadur Bohara, announced through a budget speech that it would be developed as a project of provincial pride. In the next year 076/07, only Rs. 12.5 million was allocated. The Far-Western government, which has been allocating budget every fiscal year, has also removed Phapla from the provincial pride scheme from the current fiscal year. For the same reason, no budget has been allocated for Phapla in the current year.
The state's social development ministry has sent a file to the federal home ministry for land acquisition. Dream Phapla's campaigner Subash Shahi said that the file from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation has been returned. "The master plan of Phapla Cricket Ground has already been prepared by the private sector," he said. The Private Public Partnership (PPP) model is the best way to build ground. '
As the land acquisition work for the construction of an international cricket ground in Ward No. 3 of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis has not been completed, the construction work of physical infrastructure has not even started. The three-tier government has so far allocated around Rs 400 million for the construction of Phapla Cricket Ground, but the budget has been frozen due to lack of land tenure. The federal government had announced in the budget statement of the fiscal year 2072/07 to make Phapla of Dhangadhi an international level cricket ground.
But the state government does not have the tenure of the land under the District Administration Office Kailali. Former chairman of the district sports development committee and member secretary of the state sports council Deepak Bahadur Singh says that only Rs 6 million has been spent by the federal government on the Phapla cricket ground so far. "The budget has been used to build the pitch on the ground and even the wire," said Singh. The federal government has spent Rs 6 million for the construction of Phapla International Cricket Ground. The amount has been spent on pitch construction and fencing. According to Janak Raj Joshi, spokesperson of the Ministry of Federal Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation, whose land is it? He said that the file was sent back as it was not clear. He said, 'You have sent the file back. There is something to correct. It will happen now. '
