Kanchanpur Police annual report: 211 drug dealers arrested, 444 absconding defendants brought under control

Kanchanpur: The District Police Office, Kanchanpur, while releasing its annual progress report for the fiscal year 2082/083, stated that significant success has been achieved in drug control, crime investigation, and the arrest of absconding defendants. According to details made public through a press meet, the police conducted an active campaign throughout the year to control crime and maintain peace and security.

According to police, a total of 211 individuals, including 18 women and 193 men, were arrested during the period under the drug abuse and trafficking control campaign. During this time, police seized 590.875 grams of brown heroin (brown sugar), 8 kg 22 grams 36 milligrams of hashish, 5 kg of marijuana, 587 nitrovate ampoules, and 48 tablets.

As per data released by police, a total of 907 cases were registered during the fiscal year. Of these, 509 cases have been settled, while 398 cases are under investigation and legal process.

Police also stated that 270 individuals were arrested in 152 cases related to indecent behavior. Of those arrested, 203 were released on court orders, while 4 remain in custody.

In a court order enforcement campaign, police said 444 absconding defendants were arrested and produced before the court. Similarly, the search for defendants who escaped from custody or prison on 2082/05/24 has been intensified. According to records, 457 out of a total of 478 defendants had absconded. Of these, 300 have appeared voluntarily, while 66 have been re-arrested by police. Currently, 13 remain at large, and 1 has died, leaving 12 still absconding, according to police.

Meanwhile, police said 7 individuals arrested on charges of vandalizing public and private property during the ‘Gen-Z’ movement have been produced in court after investigation.

The report also highlights that police have been effective in addressing complaints and grievances from the general public. Out of 2,995 complaints directly filed at the police office, 2,994 have been resolved and only one remains under process. All 148 complaints received through the District Administration Office have been resolved.

The District Police Office, Kanchanpur, has expressed its commitment to further strengthening its mechanisms to maintain peace, control crime, and reinforce the rule of law.
