Mother strangles her infant to death in Baitadi

Dhangadhi: A mother who gave birth to a child in Baitadi has strangled her baby and killed it.

Madhavi Karki, 35, of Dilashani Rural Municipality-7 in the district killed her newborn baby. According to the police, Madhavi strangled the baby to death. According to Chief Inspector Rajesh Shahi of the Area Police Office, Patan, she gave birth to a baby in a maize field near her house on Sunday morning and strangled the baby.

Police have taken Madhavi under control. Inspector Shahi said that the court would extend his term today and start investigation into the case. According to police, Madhavi's husband has gone missing. She is said to have had an illicit affair with a 17-year-old boy from the village. Madhavi, who is also a women's health volunteer, has a 13-year-old son.
