Yarsa collectors return back due to snowfall

Bajhang: Yarsa collectors have started returning to their villages after it snowed at the Yarsa collection site in Bajhang.

According to Gobind Bohara of Saipal Rural Municipality, the locals who reached the site in the first week of Baishakh to collect Yarsa have started their journey to their hometown after the snowfall in the areas.

Those who went to collect Yarsa in Dhanma of Surma Rural Municipality, Pallo Kholalgaet of Bungal Municipality and Saipal Rural Municipality have started returning home due to snowfall.

Yarsa collectors said that they would revisit the area to collect Yarsa after the snow melts. Yarsa collection has also declined this year due to climate change.

The growth of Yarsa has been affected in those areas due to crowds and plastic waste and other sorts of debris, thrown in the sites.

Gyan Bahadur Bohara, chairman of Sahara Nepal, a non-governmental organization in Bajhang, said that the initiative was taken to manage the garbage at the collection site.
