Bangladesh ambassador pays courtesy call on Speaker Aryal, discusses bilateral cooperation

Kathmandu: Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman paid a courtesy call on Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal at his office today.

Speaker Aryal stated that Nepal-Bangladesh relations are based on universal equality, mutual respect, and trust, and that Nepal has always accorded high importance to its ties with Bangladesh.

He extended his best wishes to the government formed on the basis of the mandate received from the people of Bangladesh, wishing it a successful tenure in serving the people and advancing national progress and prosperity.

Referring to Nepal’s recent successful elections and the formation of a new government, he expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries would further strengthen and that various dimensions of bilateral relations would reach new heights.

Speaker Aryal praised Bangladesh’s economic and physical development, stating that its good practices could be beneficial for Nepal’s own development journey. He said, “The cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh will make a significant contribution to the happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the people of both countries.”

Highlighting growing cooperation in the sports sector, Speaker Aryal said relations between the peoples of the two countries have become closer, with mutual understanding and friendship being strengthened among the younger generation through sports such as football, cricket, and volleyball.

According to the Speaker’s Secretariat, they also discussed various issues related to education, health, agriculture, climate change, and regional cooperation.

Ambassador Rahman said the Bangladesh government is positive about further expanding existing cooperation with Nepal in the areas of energy, trade, tourism, education, health, and people-to-people relations. He stressed the need to make South Asian regional cooperation more effective and to work jointly on issues of common interest, according to a press note issued by the Speaker’s Secretariat.
