Chief Minister Shah emphasizes role of stakeholders in ensuring effective supply of essential commodities
Godavari (Kailali): Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has highlighted the crucial role of concerned bodies in making the supply system of essential commodities, including petroleum products and gas, more effective.
Speaking at a meeting held at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, he stressed the need for intensified market monitoring to prevent shortages of essential goods. He called for cooperation and coordination from all relevant authorities to facilitate an efficient supply system.
Chief Minister Shah noted that the monitoring committee, formed under prevailing laws including the Consumer Protection Act and its regulations, should ensure effective market supervision. He emphasized that cooperation from all stakeholders is essential to strengthen the committee’s efforts.
Shah urged all petroleum and gas producers and distributors to remain vigilant in preventing black marketing, artificial shortages, and overpricing.
During the meeting, several key decisions were made regarding market supply management and the regulation of petroleum products and gas. It was decided to further strengthen market monitoring through the established committee and mechanisms, and to take strict action against any producers or distributors found engaged in black marketing, creating artificial shortages, or selling at inflated prices.
The meeting also resolved to conduct public awareness programs promoting the economical use of petroleum products and gas, reducing consumption, and increasing the adoption of alternative energy. Shah advised the public not to be influenced by unnecessary rumors, noting that there is currently no disruption in the supply of essential goods in the market.
The discussion was attended by secretaries of various ministries, Chief District Officers of Kailali and Kanchanpur, senior officials of security agencies, and representatives of relevant organizations, including Nepal Oil Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and gas dealers.
