CIAA Kanchanpur receives 444 new complaints in current fiscal year
Dhangadhi: A total of 444 new complaints have been registered at the Kanchanpur office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) up to the second week of Mangsir in the current fiscal year 2082-083. Including 462 complaints carried over from the previous fiscal year, the office has received a total of 906 complaints so far.
Chetraj Bhatta, the office’s information officer, stated that the highest number of complaints are related to education, with 174 complaints registered concerning issues such as irregularities in school lunches, teacher transfers, building construction, purchase of materials, and libraries.
Other sectors include 103 complaints related to local-level issues, 106 complaints in the forest and environment sector, 114 complaints in physical infrastructure, and 53 complaints in the health sector. Approximately 50 percent of total complaints are connected to the local level.
District-wise, Kailali reported the highest number of complaints at 220, of which 66 have been resolved and 154 are under investigation. Kanchanpur recorded 166 complaints, with 67 resolved and 99 pending. Achham has 90 complaints (19 resolved, 71 pending), Baitadi 80 (15 resolved, 65 pending), Darchula 74 (15 resolved, 59 pending), Bajhang 67 (15 resolved, 52 pending), Doti 64 (13 resolved, 51 pending), and Dadeldhura recorded the lowest with 55 complaints (21 resolved, 34 pending).
Of the total 906 complaints, 254 have been resolved while 658 remain under process. CIAA Kanchanpur Chief Ved Prakash Bhandari noted that detailed investigations are currently underway for 150 complaints.
The office, which handles complaints related to corruption from all nine districts and 88 municipalities of the Far West, currently employs 63 staff members, including 15 investigation officers and assistant investigation officers. Chief Bhandari highlighted that a shortage of manpower poses challenges to work performance.
