Road construction begins to connect Chhangru and Tinker in Darchula
Darchula: Locals have expressed happiness as road construction has begun in the Dopakhe, Bayali, and Tambaku areas along the Nepal-China-India border. The construction company stated that the work is being carried out under a contract agreement signed by Byas Rural Municipality in the last fiscal year 2081/82.
According to Keshav Bahadur Pal, representative of Mission-Deohari JV, the construction of a pedestrian path in most parts of Ward No. 1, including Tinker and Chhangru, has already progressed, while the road construction in Dopakhe, Bayali, and Tambaku areas is now in its final stage.
Byas Rural Municipality had announced a tender worth Rs. 55 million last fiscal year with a conditional grant from the federal government and signed a contract agreement for the construction of the pedestrian path. Of this amount, Rs. 12.5 million has been frozen, informed Gopal Singh Bista, the rural municipality’s accountant.
A meeting of the village executive held on Asad 20 extended the construction deadline to Mangsir 15, with the remaining expenses to be covered from the rural municipality’s internal resources.
Bista stated that the road construction work is being carried out within the extended deadline. He also mentioned that the rural municipality has allocated Rs. 5 million in the current fiscal year 2082/83 for the continuation of the pedestrian road construction.
