Citizen assistance center established at Gaddachauki border to aid returning travelers
Kanchanpur: A citizen assistance center has been set up at Gaddachauki, the western border checkpoint of Kanchanpur, to ensure the safety and convenience of people returning home from India during the festive season. The District Police Office, Kanchanpur, announced the initiative on Sunday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Khadak Bahadur Khatri, Chief of the District Police Office, said the center, located near Pillar No. 7 at Gaddachauki on the Nepal-India border, has been established to assist the general public during the approaching Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals.
The move follows a decision made at the District Security Committee meeting held last Thursday, which instructed that passenger assistance centers be set up jointly by security personnel at Gaddachauki border checkpoint and Mahendranagar Bus Park. Additionally, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force were directed to operate citizen assistance centers in other markets and border areas of the district.
The citizen assistance center at Gaddachauki was inaugurated in the presence of Chief District Officer Laxman Dhakal, Provincial Police Office Dhangadhi officials, Kailali Police Chief Dammar Bahadur BK, and other authorities. The police have also launched road safety patrols to prevent vehicle theft, robbery, and accidents at the border.
As the festivals approach, the Gaddachauki border post has become increasingly crowded. Nepalis working in various parts of India have started returning home to celebrate Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath, leading to a significant rise in daily footfall at the checkpoint.
