High-Standard Hotels in Kailali Allowed to Operate Until Midnight

Dhangadhi: High-standard hotels in Kailali registered according to provincial government standards will now be allowed to operate until 12:00 AM (midnight).

Previously, hotels and businesses were required to close by 10:00 PM. However, following discussions between the Hotel Entrepreneurs Association of Kailali, the District Administration Office, and the District Police Office, an agreement was reached to extend the operating hours for high-standard hotels by two hours.

Under the new arrangement, hotels registered as “high-standard” with the provincial Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment may serve customers until midnight. According to the Hotel Entrepreneurs Association of Kailali, there are approximately one hundred such hotels in the district.

The agreement was signed by Chief District Officer Hiralal Regmi, District Police Office Kailali Chief Narendra Chand, and Hotel Entrepreneurs Association of Kailali President Keshav Pandey. Business owners stated that the operating hours were extended to facilitate access to food and accommodation for domestic and international tourists, air travelers, and long-distance passengers arriving in Dhangadhi late at night.

Association President Pandey noted that the change would make it easier for travelers and tourists arriving late in Dhangadhi to access hotel services. He added that the move is expected to help extend tourists’ stays in Dhangadhi and support the hotel and tourism sectors.

However, permission to operate until midnight applies only to high-standard hotels. The existing 10:00 PM closing time remains in effect for other hotels and commercial establishments.

While the administration has granted permission for extended operating hours, it has urged hotel operators to pay special attention to security arrangements. The administration has urged management to be responsible regarding the recording of customer details, monitoring of hotel premises, and implementation of necessary security measures, keeping in mind potential security risks during nighttime hours.

With the extension of operating hours for high-standard hotels, the debate regarding the operation of organized nightlife businesses in Dhangadhi has also gained fresh momentum.
