Shivnath Rural Municipality to be Declared Fully Institutionalized Maternity Municipality
Baitadi– Shivnath Rural Municipality in Baitadi is set to be declared a fully institutionalized maternity municipality in the upcoming fiscal year 2081/82.
This initiative is part of the municipality's policy and program aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality rates to zero.
Karn Singh Saund, Chairman of the Rural Municipality, emphasized the importance of this initiative in ensuring safe childbirth. The municipality plans to achieve this goal by continuing the "Kosheli" program, which supports pregnant women in accessing institutional delivery services.
Narendersingh Mahata, Chief Administrative Officer of the Rural Municipality, highlighted the operational readiness of the municipality's health infrastructure.
The municipality currently has 18 birthing centers equipped with skilled technical manpower to provide comprehensive maternity services. To further support the institutional delivery campaign, the municipality plans to extend electricity services to all safe delivery service centers, ensure the availability of technical skilled manpower, and provide necessary medical tools.
The initiative also includes educational efforts to inform families about the benefits of institutional childbirth, aiming to end the practice of home births. Chief Administrative Officer Mahata reiterated the commitment to creating a fully institutionalized maternity ward.
This initiative is expected to significantly reduce maternal and neonatal mortality, ensuring that childbirth is safe for both mothers and their newborns.
