Illegal Goods Worth 19 Lakhs Seized in Baitadi; Driver in Custody
Baitadi: In a significant crackdown, law enforcement authorities in Baitadi have confiscated illegal goods valued at over 19 lakhs, including a truck allegedly involved in the transportation. The operation, spearheaded by Police Inspector Nandaraj Joshi of the District Police Office Baitadi, resulted in the seizure of goods from Melauli Municipality-3 Lamalek area.
The seized goods, estimated at Rs 4,08,440, along with the truck bearing registration number SE 1 B 2014, were intercepted during the early hours of Wednesday. The driver, identified as Ganesh Madai, aged 45 and hailing from Patan Municipality-8, was apprehended in connection with the illicit transport.
Inspector Joshi disclosed that the operation, conducted at 3 o'clock in the morning, targeted the evasion of customs duties. Following the successful interception, both the confiscated goods and the impounded truck have been transferred to the Kailali Customs Office in Dhangadhi for further investigation.
Authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order within the district.
