'Ratedi' fair will be held today in Ugratara

Dadeldhura: Ugratara Dehijant Mela, a famous religious place of Sudurpaschim province, is going to be held on 23rd i.e. tomorrow. The fair 'Dehijat' held every year at Ugratara Bhagwati Temple, a famous religious Shaktipeeth of Sudurpaschim Province in Dadeldhura, is scheduled to be held on 23rd Kartik.

Every year, a fair is held on the night of the full moon of Kartik Shukla Paksha (Ratedi) and on the second day on the 9th day. Ugratara Mela, called Dehijant in the local language, which attracts thousands of pilgrims and devotees, has been announced by the Ugratara Region Development Committee.

A big fair is held every year on the day of Kartik Shuklapaksha Purnima at the temple of Mahashakti Peeth Ugratara Bhagwati, which is located on a beautiful hill along the Mahakali highway of Amargadhi municipality-8, four kilometers from the district headquarters. In the Ugratara Bhagwati temple where there are four villages Chchoda, Khanmada, Dumda and Jiloda Bhrana (Bhandar), the 'Diusedi' fair starts in the morning after the arrival of 'Deuro' from these four villages in the Ratedi Mela. Thousands of pilgrims come to worship at the fair held at the temple of Ugratara Bhagwati.

Tej Bahadur Sanki, Chairman of Ugratara Area Development Committee, informed that every year thousands of devotees arrive in the Ugratara Bhagwati Mela, which is considered as a dehijat, from the Far Western Province, Karnali and the neighboring country of India. President Sanki said that the worship of Ugratara Bhagwati Mata will begin at four o'clock in the morning religiously, as soon as Deuro reaches Ugratara temple with the doli of Mata Bhagwati from all the four villages along with Dain Damah, Ruisingh, Vikul, Bhokar, Shanki, Ghanta etc.

After the morning puja, in the afternoon, the Bhagwati Mata's Ganja temple is surrounded by four special places in the grounds spread over hundreds of acres. In the morning, the deura of Mata Bhagavati brought from the Bhran of all the four villages is completed again after 5 pm in the Bhran of all the four villages. He also said that this fair, which has been going on since tradition, has its own importance.

According to legend, 2500 years ago, when the locals of Sanki caste living in Latauli, present day Amargadhi municipality, while plowing, the goddess appeared and gave darshan after the blade of the plow was cut and blood flowed. There is a popular belief that if you see Ugratara Mata, which rises magnificently once a year, there will be no calamity, you will get happiness, and your wishes will be fulfilled.
