When will electricity and communication services be available in the hilly districts of the Far-West?
Dhangadhi: Electricity and Nepal Telecom's phone and internet services have been disrupted in seven hilly districts of the Far-West. Due to heavy rainfall since the past two days, there has been a problem in the power transmission line and also in the telecom line.
According to Jang Bahadur Chand, head of the Electricity Authority's provincial office in Attaria, electricity service has been disrupted in seven hilly districts. "The tower of the 132 kV transmission line near Khanidanda in Kailali has been damaged," he said. "There is also a problem in 33 KV. We are ready to make the power supply to Dadeldhara and Dipayal at least by repairing it till today." Chief of the provincial office Chand has now reached Khanidanda himself.
Residents of hilly districts have not been able to get in touch after the power outage. There is no information about the damage caused by the floods. Most of the phones are off. Nepal Telecom's phone and internet service is also blocked in the hilly district. Chief of the Nepal Telecom Provincial Office, Namakar Neupane, said that the service was disrupted due to the expansion of the telecom's optical fiber through electricity poles. "After the service was disrupted, we had sent a team to repair it at 10 in the morning," he told Dinesh Khabar.
