Laxman Tharu of Kailali warns to revive Tharuhat movement in Daudaha
Dhangadhi: Preparations are underway to revive the Tharuhat / Tharuwan movement in regard to the Tikapur incident. Preparations have been made to raise the Tharuhat / Tharuwan movement vigorously from next November.
Under this, information about the nature and agenda of the movement is being provided in the Terai districts from August. In this connection, Laxman Tharu, the leader of the Tharuhat / Tharuwan movement, has left for Daudaha. Arriving at Lamahi in Dang on Wednesday, he said that false allegations had been made in the Tikapur incident and that preparations were being made for a Kathmandu-centric movement demanding the unconditional release of those currently living in jail. Speaking at a press conference in Lamahi, Dang, Tharu said that the third phase of the agitation would be decisive. "Twenty-seven people have been falsely accused.
Seven people are in custody. Everyone should be released unconditionally" he said. "The Tikapur incident is a political incident" The present government has demanded the release of Resham Chaudhary, a member of the House of Representatives, considering the Tikapur incident as a political incident. But Tharu accused the government of ignoring the incident. The then government had formed a red commission to study the Tikapur incident. But Tharu is outraged that the commission's report has not been made public. He also demanded that the report of the Red Commission be made public immediately.
"The government is asleep with the report of the Red Commission on its head," he said. "We want to wake up the government through agitation." He has claimed that the report was hidden under the cover of a power center. He demanded that the Tikapur incident be resolved amicably. Tharu said the movement, which started in the second week of November, was with other communities. Five members of the Nepal Police, two members of the Armed Forces and eight people, including a child, were killed in the Tikapur incident in Kailali on August 24, 2015.
