Chand, a senior journalist from the Far-West passes away

Dhangadhi: Far-Western senior journalist Ram Bahadur Chand passed away on Wednesday. Chand, who was living in a house at Bhaisipati in Lalitpur, died at the age of 95. Born in the then Chaukham Gabis (now Sigas village) of Baitadi, Chand had been ill for a long time.

Chand, who has been a journalist in Mahendranagar for a long time, was also honored as a 'Press Freedom Fighter' by the Press Council Nepal. Chand first started his formal journey of journalism in Mahendranagar in 1926 BS from Mahakali Sandesh fortnightly.

He is said to have contributed to the journalism of the Far West through weekly talks in 1933 BS and semi-weekly Janavarta in 1949 BS. Journalists, relatives and others have expressed grief over Chand's death.
