Dhangadhi: The locals of Dhangadhi are suffering due to frequent power cuts. Residents of Dhangadhi have been troubled by the frequent power cuts that have been going on for the past few days.

The electricity service has been disrupted in Buddhachowk and other places of Dhangadhi since last night. Lokesh Joshi, a local of Dhangadhi, said that many families are suffering because of frequent power cuts. A transformer installed in Ward no. 3 has the capacity to cater to 50 famlies but, 200 famlies are using the same transformer as the only source of electricity.

Therefore, it is anticipated that it could be the reason behind the fluctuations as the transformer is not designed to handle high load. Joshi said, "the Nepal Electricity Authority does not respond to any calls. Electronic devices have also started getting damaged due to electricity fluctuations." Meanwhile, Nepal Electricity Authority Dhangadhi Distribution Center Chief Surendra Chaudhary said that the problem has been coming up for the past few days due to the hot weather.

"As the heat intensifies the load increases because people double the use to electricity by turning on AC's and coolers, so there are occasional problems in the power transmission line," he said. He claimed that he is working diligently towards solving the problem.
