Dhangadhi: A woman suffering from mental illness has been rescued from Doti and brought to the Manab Sewa Ashram in Dhangadhi.

Kusum KC, 37, of Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality has been rescued and kept in the ashram for necessary protection and treatment. She has been suffering from mental issues since the past 10 years. According to the ashram, KC was brought by her brother as she had been wandering in the streets for a long time and was unable to take care of herself.

Also, the ashram is confident that KC will get well soon and be reunited with her family. Including KC, the number of people taking shelter in the Kailali branch of Manab Sewa Ashram has reached 36. Of them, 3 are children, 17 are women and the remaining 16 are men, said Achyut Ghimire, district coordinator of Mawab Sewa Ashram Kailali.

He said that the helpless people coming to the ashram are being treated by a psychiatrist regularly. "Once a month," he said. The Manab Sewa Ashram, which was started in 2069 BS from Hetauda in Makwanpur, now has 21 branches in all the seven provinces. At present, about 1,100 people are taking shelter in branches across the country.
