A woman succumbs to her injuries in a gas explosion

Dhangadhi: A woman has died after being seriously injured in a gas explosion in Dhangadhi.
The deceased has been identified as Birmadevi Bista aged 65, of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, Ward No. 8. Acting Chief of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pratik Bista informed that Birmadevi died in Kathmandu while undergoing treatment.
According to the police, the condition of Harilal Bista and her grandson who were also injured are stable and are undergoing treatment. Earlier, the police had said that the gas cylinder had burst however, the police later claimed that the gas cylinder was not damaged.
On Wednesday morning, Harilal brought a cylinder from the market and installed a regulator, the likely cause for the accident was a leakage of gas which was stored in the room due to poor ventilation leading to an explosion.
The police stated that the roof of the kitchen was blown up and the wall was also destroyed, however, police said that the incident was being investigated.
