300 houses flooded, 55 houses damaged in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi: Most areas of Dhangadhi sub-metropolis have been inundated due to rains. Most of the areas including Campus Road, Sivanagar, LN Chowk, Parkmode, Bishalnagar, Milanchowk, Chauraha, Uttar Behdi and Chatakpur of Dhangadhi are flooded. According to local Tekraj Joshi, about half a dozen families have been displaced in Bishalnagar. He said that he is staying in his neighbour’s due to flood. The most affected areas are Dhangadhi market area and the wards surrounding it. Police Inspector Hikmat Thapa of the District Police Office of Kailali said that about 300 houses were flooded after the floods hit the settlement. "The market area has been inundated and 300 houses have been flooded," said Inspector Thapa. "55 houses have been damaged." The rest of the damage has not been reported. The problem of inundation is increasing in Dhangadhi due to improper drainage system for the roads. The government bodies including Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis have expanded the roads and disrupted the drains meant to manage the water flow.
