Locals of Pahalmanpur protest demanding maintenance of Pahalmanpur-Lalboji road
The locals gathered at Sisaiya Chowk of Ghodaghodi Municipality Ward No. 11 demanding road maintenance on Friday. They staged a demonstration demanding maintenance of the Pahalmanpur-Lalboji road section as locals have been suffering due to flooding of Pahalmanpur-Lalboji road section.
At present, vehicles other than motorcycles and bicycles have not been able to use the road. The municipality allocated Rs 5 Lakh for gravel. While, there were rumours of a tender allocation of Rs 30 lakh for black paper, but the construction hasn’t materialised. Only 500 meters from the east-west highway has been tarred.
Gauri Shankar Chaudhary, a member of the House of Representatives from Kailali Constituency No. 3, had made the road construction an election slogan to garner votes.
He also allocated budget for the up-gradation of the road but the condition of the road remains the same.
Therefore, the locals have formed a committee comprising of 20 members led by local Bijay Raj Swar. A struggle committee has been formed to put pressure on the local and provincial government for road maintenance, said Swar.
