Armed police seize illegal groceries worth over Rs 21 lakhs in Baitadi
Baitadi: The Armed Police Force has seized illegal groceries worth over Rs 21 lakhs from the Haldubinayak area of Pancheshwor Rural Municipality-4 in Baitadi.
A team from Armed Police Force No. 51 Gulm recovered the goods during a regular patrol, seizing them from a Bolero pickup truck and a tractor.
According to officials, a team deployed to control illegal trafficking in the border area discovered a large quantity of groceries while inspecting suspicious vehicles. The estimated value of the seized goods is over Rs 21 lakhs.
The vehicles and goods were confiscated after being found transported without the required documentation. All seized items have been handed over to the Customs Office, Jhulaghat, for necessary action, the Armed Police Force stated.
Security agencies said they will further tighten monitoring and control of illegal trade and smuggling activities in the border area following the incident, noting that such activities have been increasing recently.
